Places and Spaces

Many of the photographs in this section are taken at the home I grew up in. Once I moved away I quickly learned what a special place it was in so many ways. It was a farmhouse first purchased by my grandfather in about 1920, expanded by him with the help of a very gifted local artist named Carroll French, who did all the wood carving you see in the photographs. Fifty feet behind the house is a deep ravine with a beautiful waterfall that ran year-round, roaring in floods, covered with ice in winter, and providing a beautiful sound year round. There was also a lovely pond my grandfather made by building a dam above that waterfall. I have always loved houses and architecture in general, as other photos demonstrate, and I’m sure it’s because of that beautiful house I was lucky to grow up in.
